FC Malaga City Senior player Nestor Jimenez revealed that he and his teammates “can’t wait” for this evening's promotion decider.
Adrian Dominguez Igual’s side need to pick up all three points against Atletico Estacion to guarantee promotion from Primera Andaluza (Malaga).
FC Malaga City Senior kept their promotion hopes alive last weekend, scoring a last-minute equaliser against CD Trabuco.
“The game last weekend was very exciting and emotional,” he said.
“We went into the match wanting three points, but equalising in the last minute was an amazing feeling - and most importantly it means promotion is still in our hands.
“We didn’t play our best, but we kept pushing for large periods and thankfully we managed to get the late goal and keep our dream alive.
“It’s given us a real confidence boost, and we all can’t wait for Sunday's game.”
Jimenez praised the unity amongst the squad, and believes promotion would be a just reward for the players, supporters and fans following a “difficult’ season.
“From the beginning of the season, we knew it was going to be difficult - because only one team of out the 21 can gain promotion,” he said.
“It’s always tough to create a good team spirit and unity having people from all around the world.
“A lot of us only met for the first time a couple of weeks before the season, but now I can say we are a family fighting for the same goal.
“Our team motto is UBUNTU and it describes us perfectly - because we work hard for each other and fight until the end together.
“As a team, we can’t express enough how grateful we are for the support both locally and around the world.
“It gives us a lot of extra motivation and carries over the line when things aren’t quite going our way.
“To get the promotion would be an amazing achievement for us as players, for the coaches, for the supporters, and for the club as a whole.
“We’re pleased that the final game of the season is at our home stadium on natural grass - and we’re sure there’ll be a good crowd supporting us.”
