FC Malaga City Success Stories: Could You Be Next?

Here at FC Malaga City our goal is move players on to the full time professional game. Here are 5 example of players that have made it at the next level!

Elliot Simmons

Perhaps our most notable of Academy graduates, Elliot Simmons played for FC Malaga City in the late 2010’s. Having impressed with us in Spain, he then made the leap to North America to play in the newly formed Canadian Premier League. The English playmaker went from strength to strength in Canada, making stops in Halifax for HFX Wanderers, Calgary for Cavalry FC, and now to Vancouver where he has become the latest signing for Vancouver Football Club. Throughout his time in Canada he has surpassed 100 professional appearances and remains as one of the premier players in the CPL.

Dallas Odle

Goalkeeper and California native Dallas Odle came to FC Malaga City in the COVID impacted year of 2020 and shined for our CD Almunecar City Senior who ultimately fell just short of promotion that season. Odle was a shining light in that team, with several massively important games and an ever-present in the side. Following his season with CDAC he turned his attention back stateside, signing for FC Tulsa of USL Championship. After a successful first season with the club, Dallas has re-signed for the coming 2023/24 USL season with FC Tulsa.

Lester (Tre) Hayes

Lester Hayes, better known as Tre, was a dominant force during his time in Spain with FC Malaga City and after a successful season on the Spanish coast, Hayes took his talents to Scandinavia where he still plies his trade today. A key component in the Middelfart Boldklub attacking ranks, the Puerto Rican international has been making headlines out in Denmark with his pure athleticism and clinical finishing. A fan favorite of the Danish side, Hayes continues to make his presence felt in the professional game.

Grayson Dupont

We now return to another American, this one who has had multiple stays with FC Malaga City. Midfielder/winger Grayson Dupont came to FC Malaga City initially as an academy player where he spent a successful season in the youth ranks before moving back to the USA to compete for NCAA Division 1 school University of Alabama Birmingham. After completing his collegiate career, Dupont made the move back to Spain signing on for CD Almunecar City for the promotion campaign of the 21/22 season. Since then Dupont has gone on to sign for Birmingham Legion of the USL Championship where he has just re-signed for his second season with the club.

Baka

Last, but certainly not least, we arrive at Abubakar Moffat, better known as Baka. Baka played a key role, starring for the FC Malaga City Senior side during their promotion campaign to Division de Honor in the 2020/21 season. The Zimbabwean midfielder then moved up a division, signing for CD Estepona then in Tercera RFEF before winning promotion to Segunda RFEF with that same Estepona side. Since then, Baka has moved back into the Tercera RFEF ranks signing for promotion favorites El Palo FC. At only 24 years old, Baka certainly has a bright future ahead of him as he continues to leave his mark on Spanish football.

These are just several of the long list of FC Malaga City Academy graduates that have gone on to star in the professional game around the world. Think you could be next? Fill out and application and start your FCMC journey!
